I know we lead sheltered lives in Australia but just in case anyone in the USA has missed this little gem from MCLS here is (probably) an upside down pic!

That seems like a simple gizmo and it looks like it would be easy enough to make one with a couple dowels. Good find...:D

Its also used for making spars. the geometry is pretty simple. If you want center, drill three holes, two for pins and one centered for the pencil. If you want to make two lines then its four evenly spaced holes. I made this type for laying out a tapered pencil post bed after the first tapers on four sides were cut.

I've been using a version of this for getting a radius line from a curve with two dowels set in the short leg of an "L" piece of plywood and the inside of the long leg square and centered to the dowels. So if you're fitting solid trim to a round substrate you can quickly get a line to cut to perfectly. The bot isn't perfect enough for this to get the kind of tight filler-free joints I like.
