Need advice,
I have been a shopbot owner since about 2001. Most of my experience has been with furniture and woodworking, not sign making. I have now been asked to make an outdoor hanging sign for a restaurant. I have been faithfully reading and adsorbing advice over the last 10 years or so from Master Joe Crombley and others. Following the Maestro's advice I am considering the following. Sign will be a two sided oval and rectangle with the oval being approximately 44 inches in the long dimension. Material, Corafoam 15 lbs. two sheets, 1 inch thick glued together with a SS two stainless steel straps sandwiched between. glue, gorilla glue. Intend prime and paint with Modern Masters, mask with Avery mask, V carve and paint lettering. Sign will be two sided and hang on exterior of brick building. Center of oval will be removed and have copper artwork. SS strap will serve as anchor to wrought iron hanger, support for artwork and extend below oval for attaching a 12 X 44 rectangular additional sign.
These are my thoughts presently. Questions: proper material? Can I V Carve with an Amana 90 degree insert blade through Avery mask? Is SS straping a reasonable idea for supporting and hanging signs. Any other advice.
Thank you Joe and Brady and others for all the sage advice throughout the past decade.
