I know this has been asked before but I thought I'd throw this out there to see if I'm in the ballpark.
The finish cedar sign will be 32 x 26 x 2" clear cedar.
The green is the machined area's.
The sign will be hand painted except for the skull which will be a decal.
I've been hired by another sign shop to do this so I have to leave some meat on the bone for them.
I priced it at 650.00
I'm curious if I'm close to what others would charge.

I know that prices vary with location and country(I',m Canadian)
The cedar is local.I get clear for 3.50/bd ft.so that cost is minimal.

Thanks Brian

Brian,

The answer is in this question. If you had this kind of sign to do all day, one at a time, how would the books look at the end of the month.

Only you will know.

Thanks Joe
I don't do just signs so I will keep tabs on my time and materials to see how it works out.
I live in an area with a small population base separated by a ferry so diversity is the key.

Brian,

Makes not difference. If you were doing this product daily what would the end of the month look like. You do deserve to be paid a reasonable amount.

So many Shopboters make the mistake, time and again, of selling this craft short. I've heard every excuse possible. The most common is "I have another job, or I'm semi retired, so I don't have to make as much as a pro."

When I started out I wanted to be known as the best sign person in the community. Never did I want to be known as the cheapest. Those who wander down that path ultimately go out of business. Customers remember quality and respect it. This is a game of quality first.
