They sell the full steam package that serves that unit.
I found this at their website (http://ghebavaria.de/biegen-st-en.htm), Jack...
"Softened wood is inserted in the bending plates on a mobile work table that is equipped with bending plates and clamps.
After bending and clamping, the bending plates are placed on a cooling conveyor. Two hours later, the clamps are removed. The plates and clamps are stacked on a second mobile work table for returning to the bending machine. The bent parts are loaded on a pilling clamp truck, which can be stacked in the drying room. Drying can also take place in a vaccuum dryer or on a high frequency press."

If you wait long enough, just about any 2x4 made today will bend into a variety of shapes all by itself. :D :D

Yep, pretzel, cork screw and if you put two next to each other you get a DNA helix.

clearly i knew there was some other functions contributing to it's ability to be able to bend wood...however my first thought was they had a little fairy on a chain off camera that waved her magic wand as it passed by...

But not seeing that in the video was what made it look interesting, especially with no audio..:D

The most important thing about bending wood is the metal strap. all good wood bending machines uses the strap. it is on the outside of the bend it helps to evenly apply pressure and prevents breaks.
notice in the video of the 2x4 being bent. but i agree the 2x4 we get today will bend into amassing shapes on their own

Bending wood can be fun and easy. I make Shaker boxes, most sale above $50.00 some as high as $2,000.00 depends on the size of the box. Here is a set from 0 to #4 I make boxes up to #22. I bend the wood clamp it allow it to dry overnight then I use copper tacks and tooth picks to put the box together. some are stained most are just clear coated. The wood I use is mostly cut and planed in my shop.

Eugene,
you're an amazing woodworker! I know you had thought about offering a class with your files you were selling but you should consider putting together a workshop. Or better yet, you might want to try to produce some type of instructional DVD's and sell them....

When steam bending wood - you see there is usually not only a thin stainless/spring steel band, always on the outisde of the bend - but also a set of blocks attached to the strap that fit tight up against the ends of the piece being bent.

Wood doesnt like to be "stretched"... it will compress, however. So, when you have a strap and a set of end blocks, you are basically forcing the wood to compress on the inside of the curve and the outside of the curve allows the wood to remain its "normal" length.

With the wood good and hot (it is the heat in the steam that softens the lignen in the cells and allows the wood to be pliable) and the proper setup, you can bend it pretty easily.

I got to see the steam and bending room of a very old Canadian chair manufacturer (Krug) which steams a lot of its components. Pretty cool manufacturing process for sure.

Jack : Thanks for the kind words. In the cd there is a instructional video on how to make the items. I do have a few of the people that bought volume one that have sent e-mails to ask questions. I tried to make volume one and the other volumes as easy to make as possible. I am planning on building a shop with more room, and a good size class room in an area that people could come to take classes and have a good vacation area to spend a week or two, and for companies like shop bot, aspire, artcam and other companies a place to come and have classes. I know it is hard for some to travel to Shop Bot Factory and other compains it is expensive. Where I plan on building the new shop/class room is about40 minutes from Lexington, KY. In the foot hills of Daniel Boone National Forest (Red River Gorge/ Natural Bridge State Park. I enjoy helping others to learn to make things and to make money. Most people fail to make a go of a company not because they don't try, they Just don't know how to do things or how to market their products. I post things on the site to help encourage others to let them see what they can do. Anyone can make items that will make them money, I am basically self taught, and if I can make a living and make money with woodworking anyone can.. it just takes some encouragement, training and setting goals. Hopefully my post
helps someone to see their potential and that they become successful.
Jack anyone that has questions or would like to learn something all they have to do is call me or send me a e-mail. They do not have to buy our patterns, I love helping people I will help anyone in anyway that I can.
that is why I post Ideals and suggestions and show things.

I wish I had enough money to build the new shop/ class room this year, but medical bills went through the roof trying to save Tina's eye sight. Hopefully in a few years I will have the class rooms. I am saving up the money from the sales of volume one to build the class rooms, still about 100 sales short of reaching the goal for the class room.

By the way at Shaker Village in Kentucky they teach classes on Making shaker boxes Shaker Village is located at Pleasant Hill Kentucky. Google Shaker Village and check out all the things you can do.. by the way it is about 1 hour from where I want to build the new shop class room.

Also Google Berea college it is about 50 minutes away. I make things for both.
