Get Yourself a 2 inch board as wide as you like or as you can find. make it about 18 inches long. Use one of Vector art 3/d patterns and do a elongated bowl cut with the patterns. Using a flutter wheel sander smooth out the bowls inside. on the table saw saw under cut angles (make them all different) Try for a distressed look sand smooth and coat with lacquer. You can under cut the wood then sand smooth, you can also cut it to have a handle. be sure to lay this out if you plan on having a pattern on the handle part. How I did this was allowed the cnc to do all the carving then had the bot to cut my out side profile. then I too it to the band saw and table saw.
