I'm trying to cut a plaque for a friend (3D baby blocks from vecorart3d) and I'm having a problem with the tool pausing mid-cut. Tool is a Buddy-32 running 3.8.6. I've cut this pattern a dozen times or more, but his is the 1st with this version of control s/w. Rough path cuts fine but final path keeps stopping at the same line. Stopping & continuing doesn't change the result. No error messages either.
Any inputs on how to debug this type of situation?

I have heard enough negatives about the new control software that I never upgraded. 90 percent of what I do is 3-d. Even though I had a missing com on my last project C3 put me right back on track.

Steve,

If it's "Paused"... it may just be loading more lines of code. Check the bottom right hand corner of the SB window for the progress bar.

Hope that helps.

Bill,
I thought of that too, so I gave it a solid 10 minutes after the blue progress bar maxed out and disappeared.
I'm running it on an old Acer net book which has served well sine I bought the tool in 2009. Possible issue with the new control sw? I've thought about rolling back to an earlier version. Seems low risk. Just not sure which version to pull from the archive.

Bummer...after 10 min. you would guess something's gonna happen. While getting more lines of code is when it "pauses"? Maybe step back to 3.8.6 and try. If not good...I'd say keep stepping back until it runs for you. A quick call to ShopBot may help but the 3.8.xx is "beta" (run at you're own risk). I have been running 3.8.8 since the first of September.

Please load v3.8.8 & also run the UI command to install the updated firmware & see if this eliminates the problem. Otherwise, I would tell you to download 3.6.46 (and firmware via UI) and see if that makes a difference.

Make sure the computer isn't loaded with other software that may be looking to update itself...

Went back to 3.6.44 and bombed again. Input 4 was flashing. Now realize I didn't roll back the firmware. Just did that and input 4 still flashing.
I'm not 100%that firmware loaded correctly (no verification message).
I'll call tech support tomorrow.

Just to close this one out here's where it ended up. I spoke with Frank at ShopBot and he indicated that to rollback the s/w, you also need to change the com speed from 5 back to 4.
I did this and eliminated the flashing Input 4.
Ultimately, Bill had it right. The tool was just waiting for more lines of code. After rolling back the s/w, it still "hung up". I left it going while I pulled some wood down for a new project and it started up after some delay (not 10 min this time).
Reminds me of the old prayer "Lord, please grant me the patience to deal with my current situation... and please do it now!".
Sticking with the rolled back version.

Steve, I have the same problem. Would you mind telling me where you went to change the Com speed back to 4?

thanks,
Mark
