Hello, just putting together vacuum hold down system. I need help understanding the spoil board. Does anyone have a good close up picture of how it looks after it been surfaced. I just do get how it is suppose to look like.
Thanks,

I don't have a pic but mine looks like a machined piece of metal but MDF color.

Thanks,

Its going to be the same color as the MDF. It will just be dull instead of shiny. Also, the surface will no longer feel smooth.

all you are doing is peeling off the paper surface by several thousandths to allow a better airflow thru the mdf.

I realize that this post is several years old, but I'm getting ready to prepare for my vacuum table. Do I need to surface both sides? Is there a routine for surfacing the spoilboard?

Included with the Bot was a board surfacing bit.

I found the procedure for flattening the table. I'l do both faces.
