I'm getting ready to take my first shot at it today at V carving on a marble tile. Thanks in advance! :D

Start with 1ips XY, 0.3 ips Z at 16k rpm
Use shallow passes, about half the bit diameter

Thanks for the link Gene. My first attempt didn't turn out to well. Had a lot of chipping. I was using .5 move speed , .3z with a brand new CMT laser point 9. I'm gonna try some different settings from Gene's link and will post up the results with pics. Thanks for the replies.

I got the best results in white marble. It seems to be softer than the darker colors. I was using a carbide tipped 90 deg V Bit from the big box stores.

I noticed different pieces of marble would behave differently regarding surface chipping. Is that what you are seeing -- the glazed surface tends to chip, crack, and craze by the cut line?
