On several of the trials I have run I am getting this issue, The bit is barely raising about the workpiece and sometimes cuts the surface.

Is this a setting in the control software or the design? I have set the Safe Zero to two inches, but I have a feeling that is strictly for positioning of the Z when the machine is moving.

In the tool path menu on this particular cut (pictured above), the material is .75 and the safe z shows .0394. My question is....How do I set the distance the cutter is raised between movements?

what is really crazy is, This happened on only two of 12 of these signs I did all on the same material, same sheet of material. I was actually cutting two names at a time and in both cases only one name was "scraped" the other name came through without issue.

Thanks again, in advance for helping out a newbee.

OK, one of my students who is reading the manual (who does that? :D) Found that the g-Code can be modified in the editor, but there has to be an easier way!

If you're using Partworks to generate the toolpaths then it's the rapid z gap that you want to set. You can find it on the material setup on the toolpath tab.

Thank you, I'll check that out.

Thank you adrian, found it and made the change. Had a couple other issues I was try to figure out and got them done as well.

Playing around with the software allows you to run across things that you would otherwise be scratching your head over.
