I've updated my control box and firmware and have set my unit values.
Unit values are at 2482.8171 for the X and Y and -1273.2395 for the Z axis. When I tell the SB to move 30" in Y, I get 30" in Y. When I tell it to move 60" in X, I get 60" X movement.
When I try to JOG with the keyboard the gantry takes off faster than I've ever seen it move, not good seeing as the JOG SPEED is only set to 8" per second.
So I adjust the resolution multipliers from 1 where they are presently set and then my and Y precision goes all to hell.
FWIW, this is a 2004 Alpha that was upgraded with the PRS gantry and 7.21 motors not too long ago.
Have been plunking away at this for several hours now and about ready to throw in the towel...any ideas? - Boyd

To go along with my post on multipliers in your other thread, if you have a PRS gantry with the same pinion as current machines use with the 7.2:1, shouldn't the z unit value be 2979.3805? Just curious.

Once you get this all set, you should save out the current settings to a custom file like 'Boyds settings.sbd' in case this happens again. ;)

Scott, we retained the original Z motor and didn't upgrade that one.
I did have the unit and resolution multipliers written down but we've moved into a new house and moved my business too, all within the past year. Needless to say, finding the SB manual that has those numbers written inside aint' gonna' be easy!
I'd also wrote all the pertinent numbers in Sharpie on the inside of the aluminum control box from the original setup, unfortunately I'd forgotten to do that when we did the upgrade. - Boyd

Also...changing the resolution multiplers to 5 as you'd suggested in the other thread did slow down the jog speed nicely but now my X and Y move commands are hugely out of whack.

Found it Scott!...conflict with the A resolution multiple, and all is right with the world.
Thanks again. - Boyd

You should write the multiplier right on the motors!!! Just use a silver sharpie do it on the side. :) Never lose it again.

I know stuff. It's not like they say.
