I milled a sweet birch a few years ago and kiln dried it. I just love the color pattern of this wood.
The last table in this style was sugar maple.

I am working on a cherry slab sofa table now, I milled it from the butt of a cherry destined for fire wood, I have a hard time going past the guys with the firewood lots knowing how much beauty will go up in smoke.
We heat with firewood, I have to buy it split or I will put half the logs to the side.
