Quoting on a large commercial sign
The main material will be western red cedar
I'm wondering if I should use MDO or HDU for the lettering
The weather here is very wet so that is a big consideration when choosing
the best material
Thanks Brian

Depending on the design you could use PVC. I would prefer it over HDU with MDO in 3rd place.

does pvc hold paint well.
I know it probably comes in many colours, but incase it doesnt come in the exact colours the client wants I will have to paint it.
Thanks Brian

For exterior use it is best to use white PVC and paint it, just like you would HDU. Typical good quality Exterior Acrylics (Like Sherwin Williams, Ben Moore, etc.) adhere well and hold up well.
Darker color PVC outside will not hold it's flatness well under direct sun.
Do you mean painted darker or when it is that colour sheet?

I mean dark color pvc, as opposed to white pvc with color paint.
