Hey everyone,

I have a quick question on a sign I'm currently making. It's an exterior sign that is roughly 20x30 and I need to attach PVC letters to a wood (cedar) backing. I'm planning on using nails along with an adhesive, but I'm not sure what type of adhesive to use. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving,

-Pat

Hey Pat, i would recomend using silacone to attach pvc to your cedar sign. I've been using it alot lately and its been working great for me.

You're best off with a flexible adhesive like Silicone. It will hold up over time, allow the slight variation in material movement between the two to happen without creating problems, and eliminate the need for any mechanical fasteners. No need to nail at all or backscrew (assuming your PVC is thick enough to take a backscrew)

Which silicone product would you recommend? Thanks for the input everyone by the way.

3M 5200. It's more expensive than the typical big box stuff, but it is the best (IMHO). Carried by just about any marine store and RS Hughes if you have one in your area.
