OK Kids here's the story.

My faithful Dell XP Computer of 10 years passed away last week. I backup all my working files just two days before, so no data was lost. Got my new HP Windows 8 computer up and running good. Most all my ole programs are up and running well. When I tried to install Vector 9.4f the disk seems to be corrupt. Then I installed Vector 9.3 and it installed and works well. The 9.4f also included Vcarvz and Vfontz, which I also use.

Problem is the 9.3 will not read the files saved in 9.4f with the extension (.ccd), but it will read the files saved in 9.4f with extension (.dxf). Since most all files are saved in (.ccd), I have a big problem. I checked on internet and not sure whether the company for Vector is still in business?

Questions are.

1. Does anyone have a cd of Vector 9.4f, that could be copied, or willing to part with?

2. Is there any way to convert the (.ccd) to a (.dxf) to work in my Vector 9.3?

3. What newer program could I get that would read these files and work in a similar manner and make cut files for the shopbot?

Call IMservice 888-451-1670
don't know if Fred Smith still owns and runs that or not, they did have a website change to cadcamcadcam.com however they still handle the vector software

I have to ask why you would even try to revive that old program. 9.4 would have to date back to 2001 or there about.
Why not just purchase ArtCam Express for $149, you get v-carve toolpathing using all your window fonts rather than just the 8 or so that was included with v-fontz/v-carvz
Not to mention the other features including running in 64bit

That is a very good question and will try to answer. I'm more than likely going to move to a modern program of something. It needs to do cad line drawings like the old one. It needs to convert that to the shopbot working file. Most of all I need to recover those old files that are very very important to me. If the program you suggest or another will do all of above, I am ready to go. Thanks for input.

I keep it around for those special occasions where I need some kind of special toolpath that can't easily be done with Aspire/ArtCam etc. Also, to be able open the many files that were created with it to bring them forward to current software. Admittedly, it doesn't get opened very often anymore, but it's kind of like a Swiss Army knife when needed. I'll agree though, Vfontz and Vcarvz were horrible programs, thank goodness Vectric's Vcarve Wizard was born!

It may or may not work on Win 8.1 (tough to get it going on Win 7) but it could be run in a virtual machine running XP.
