Microsoft support for XP stops on April 8, 2014 including updates to security essentials...

If you run your XP control computer in a vacuum, no problem. However if you use a jump drive that’s been around the block or any other shared media... be concerned!

This is essentially open season on older computers and the worst is expected!

Thanks Steve for posting this important public service information. Until this summer, all three of my PCs were running on Windows XP. I finally had read enough warnings to finally switch over two of my PCs to Windows 8. It really seems clear that anyone with an XP machine connected to the Internet is facing certain disaster after Microsoft ends their support of this old operating system.

I really did not like Windows 8 at all, but with Windows 8.1, and with some free aps, it does run similarly to XP. (Though some things that should be simple are amazingly stupid...) But Windows 8 does come with an integrated security system which when used with various freeware (Malware bytes, CCleaner, etc) makes it easy to cut the cord to the awful McAfee software.

Thanks for your warning, let's hope all the die-hard XP users (such as myself) will switch over to Windows 7 or 8! Chuck
