Makes a lot of sense Gerald and explains why machining lid backs sort of works. On our vee carved jewellery boxes we put a slighly smaller version of the lid carving on the back. Have found this to be less sanding than using a pocket as the inside lid is in full view. Will be giving the steam idea a bash for sure. Good find!
