Has anyone done custom pocket knife engraving.
I am thinking of buying a knife kit and some purple heart.
Doing some custom design on the handles to make it special for me.
Rocklers and Woodcraft sell the kits and stock.
Don't need just another pocket knife....
any suggestions????

Wish I was, in his words, "not that talented" when it comes to moving up the learning curve :-)

Gerald, You obviously didn't see me mention to Gene that 2 days ago I came within a hair to driving a 1/2" BallNose 1.6" into my aluminum:) (I didn't mention that I had my default feed for the bit set at 22IPS:eek:) 2.2 might have been better. DON'T design on the fly when tired and rushed!:)

Scott,
When i get tired i simply turn everything off and walk away:D Since i work for myself, i tell myself it's not that important.
Also just before i hit the "GO" button i do a mental checklist and countdown for all the specifics
Did I C3?
did I C2?
Do i have the right bit in?, ect. THEN i hit the button!

Also check the effects you can do by checking the Project Tool path onto 3d model. You can do some neat stuff with that and a Vbit.

Bud,

Before you spend any money go by Texas Knifemaker's Supply.

http://www.texasknife.com/vcom/index.php - they are in Houston.

They also have non-folding knives. So, you don't have to have a pocket knife.
