I find the new release of Vcarve and Aspire with sketchup support works really well. It's nice to just open the native .skp file in Vcarve and not have to go through the process of flattening and dxf export of the file. Also with Vcarve converting the line segments that sketchup uses to create arcs and circles to true arcs and circles on importing is great.

Has anyone else tried this new feature?

I don't see that feature mentioned on Vectric's web site - is this something just released or is it a gadget that someone else has produced?

While we are talking about Sketchup- the 3D Warehouse has been... well... sketchy
lately. I have been modeling a new build out in a building I am looking at moving to
and it is down most of the time. Gene

Sam - thanks for bringing this to my attention! Might be time to upgrade as I've been using sketchup a lot lately.

Big thanks for pointing this out - I'm stunned - it's as if the Vectric people were looking over my shoulder, thinking "We can make this guy's life easier"..

Very happy I've stuck with Sketchup now, as many of the reasons to find a streamlined process for production have been reduced with this new feature. I'm less likely now than ever to seek out alternate programs.

Thanks again for the heads up, and hope we can continue some dialog on this new development.

The new Sketchup warehouse is abysmal. Tough to find your way around. I really liked the way the old warehouse worked where you could scroll through and find stuff.

I do a lot in Sketchup and this feature to import to Aspire is way cool. Something I'm going to have to play with.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Always worth keeping an eye on the Vectric forum. You've lost nearly a week of valuable "play time". ;)

Jeff - I 100% agree. I had been toying with Solidworks and Ecab but now there really isn't a reason for me to change from Sketchup. :) My dados come in perfect now without having to delete extra vectors, close open vectors, etc.
