Because i'm trying to make this in lightwave may be one of my issues and later on today i can go down and use artcam but here is my issue.

I have a cabinet door i want to carve that is 29.75hX18wX1thick
I want to make my rails and stiles (the border) 2" wide.

I want to start my carving in the center approx. 10 thou deep to keep from having any flat spots on carving due to surface irregularities. The center carving is 13.5wX21.75h and on the border of that carving i want to make it look like i have a roman ogee moulding that is .5 wide.

The problem i'm having is twofold. When i make my molding border it wants to make it only as high as the center carving (that is .25 high), and it cuts down behind the backside of the molding making a seperation from the frame.
What i'm trying to accomplish is to make the moulding say 10 thou below the frame surface to give it a shadow line and illusion it is a seperate piece and make the moulding higher then the center carving.

I think one of my issues is the shape of the ogee vectors and legs on it.
I think i can make this as two seperate models and carve them as seperate projects but would like to make it as one.:D
