Hello! I initially placed my mechanical stops in the wrong spot. I had help with the wiring and my friend placed the prox switches. I now need to move the prox switches and I cannot find a guide recommending specific placement beyond what on page 38 of the assembly manual: http://www.shopbottools.com/files/SBDocs/SBG00319090824PRSAssemblyBinder.pdf

I've also looked at: http://www.shopbottools.com/ShopBotDocs/files/Squaring%20PRS%20gantry%20tools%202008%2009%2030.p df

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

For mine I wanted to get maximum travel on the machine so I set them just short of the mechanical stops. Then it was a little trial an error to get what I wanted.

When I set my prox switches for zeroing the table I used a laser edge finder to get my table edge and used the distance from where the prox switches stop the machine for setting up the C3 command.

Same as Mike for me and I suspect most people. Set them for maximum machine travel and then use the offsets asked for during the ShopBot setup routine to specify where your true 0,0 is. Most flexibility that way I think.

"Instructions....we don't need no stinking instructions!!"
I ran my carriage all the way down to the end of the pinion gears. Then i backed it up probably a half inch. Then i clamped the Y car in place on both sides and just butted my mechanical stops up to that. I thought it was important to clamp it down to keep it so that the stops on both sides were exactly even.:)
Then from there you can place your prox sensors on your rails and Y car really anywhere along that span as long is they intersect so that they stop your car just a bit before hitting the stops.
