Trying to import a stl file I got off the net into Aspire 4.5 with no luck.
I will open in Pro-E and 123D.

That's an OpenGL error. Might be a video card driver issue? Can you import other STL's without problems?

That file imports fine into Aspire 4.5 for me.
As Ron says that error is usually caused by graphics card drivers.

What kind of card do I need?

Opened fine for me also.
It may just be a situation that you are running generic Microsoft drivers and need to update them to the manufacturer specific drivers for the graphics card or onboard graphics you have. Check the manufacturers site for them according to the model PC you have.

Hi Kyle,
A few people updating to Aspire 4.5 via the patch seem to have ended up with an incorrectly updated opengl driver within Aspire.
There is an updated version of the patch now available - Aspire 4.510. Can you do 'Help - Check for Updates' again to update to the latest version. If the problem still persists after the update, please contact Vectric at support@vectric.com.
Thanks
Brian

Kyle,
Make sure that your job size is set large also. That model is very large in size if you dont reset the scale. Had that happen to me before on importing STL files

Try the update again, I got the same message all morning. Must have been something wrong at the Vectric servers. Works now.

According to the Vectric forum the servers were overloaded with the amount of people downloading the Aspire and VCarve updates after the newsletter went out.
Updates can be downloaded from here - http://www.vectric.com/support/program-updates.html - but they're probably from the same server so would be slow as well. The built-in update process is easier.
Running not too bad at the time of posting.
