called the king face plate after the designer

wooden face plates made 3 in and 4 in diameter , I used cherry
bored and threaded to fit the lathe
These should last a long time at least it will not damage your lathe tools

Any size can be made but its the wood blank required that can drive the cost up
as you need about 1.5 thick wood

I am at a loss as to why you would want a wooden face plate. Looking at your grain direction, I can see the area around the screw holes breaking off on even the slightest uneven surface. I would not want a 10 pound piece of wood spinning at 1000 rpm on a wooden face plate. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I am not spinning anything 10lbs and it does work fine,saves not nicking the tool

Simpler way is use a wooden board screwed to a face place. Old way of attaching work piece was to put a sheet of paper on the wood that is screwed to face place with glue and attach the work piece let glue set up then when work is finished just knock part off. Sand away the glue less work making board...
