I have been cutting a series of historical signs for weeks...I usually have a batch of 8 or so at a time. The process has been the same - the font the same etc - the town wants all their historical homes to have signs that are the same format. The edges have a beveled edge offset 0.02 from the profile path to cut the sign out of the material. The batch I started on this week, every single cut out tool path wants to cut a radius corner versus the programed square corner. I have completely redesigned a new sign and it continues to happen - a close up of the corner in the tool path preview is square - but in an air cut it wants to cut a radius!! Help please.

What program are you using to create the tool path. Could you post a DFX or CRV file.

Hi Dick,

The preview here look fine. Perhaps you could post the design file to check your settings....

Edit: Ha! Jerry posted while I was typing.

How do you know it's cutting a radius by watching an air cut?

The toolpath will follow a curve to leave a square cut on the inside. You can see that in the attached picture.

I had switched to a new .25 0-flute from a 0.5 end mill for the cut out - in doing so I cut back the feed rate, therefore the corner "action" was very defined - I had my laser chucked up and it of course mimicked the cut and slowed down in the corner considerably - thank you all for your replies...but this one is totally on me - ran the cut and it is fine - just lost half a day yesterday...Dick
