This is a app i saw on the show "Stossel" about internet tracking and how it slows down your computer and mine is super slow. I went to https://disconnect.me/ and downloaded the browser add on and whenever you go to any site you can click on the little icon by the address bar and it will show you who is tracking you associated with that site and you can block them.
This is why when you go to amazon.com and look for shoes you'll get browser ads for shoes.
I can see a little increase in speed but i think it improves as you go to more and more sites and block trackers associated with all these sites.

FYI talkshopbot is tracked by facebook.com

Are you sure? I use Ghostery and it doesn't show any tracking software at all on the forum.

No trackers via Ghostery on here either...

That's good to know, Jack.

I use widgetblock (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/widgetblock/hgiihiookhijpbhaflohognbhmamdnol) And on those rare occasions when I might want to used a feature bocked on a page I disable the plugin.

I believe this is most effective when used in conjunction with AdBlock Pro (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb). This blocks the advertisements from loading. EVEN the ones that appear before a youtube video. I hate those. ;) I have blocked 132 ads ad one point while in FaceBook. (Wonder no longer how they generate income.)

These two do not stop tracking. They do however speed up my browsing because I don't have to wait while the ad sites load their content and the FB/Twitter/IG/ad nausea load their content and status.

Both of these are free and have worked well. :D

BTW Ghostery (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ghostery/mlomiejdfkolichcflejclcbmpeaniij?hl=en)has been added to the very coveted list of extensions used by moi'. :)

That plugin has mad good reviews.
