I got some real thick (1.5" cutoffs) from Doug and i'm wondering if this stuff in the picture is the same material and if it can be used to make the edge lit stuff in the same way?
It looks like it is probably 1/4" to 1/2" thick. I'm thinking i could cut the curves off and use the flats for the same purposes Doug does but thinner. Would that work?

Does anyone who works with plastic know if this is the same stuff and if it can be used as in the edge lit stuff?

Yes it is the same stuff, and it looks like the edges are polished for you!!!

I guess, a bigger question would be if it is cast material or extruded. Cast is what you want. Can't really tell what it is by just looking at a picture.

Used for what, 2d or 3d ?
Any thickness can be used for 2d, 3d I have found requires at least .5 ... I have done them successfully in 3/8 but there is 0 margin for error and you will punch through more often than not.

Doug,
For doing the edge lit stuff like you do.
btw i got your package 3-4 days ago thanks
If its .5 go for it, 3/8 possible but likely to lead to frustration.
