I just got my machine (PRT Alpha) up and running and it's been a year, I also just upgraded to 3.6.46 from 3.1.1.

some things have changed that I'm not too familiar with.

Maybe there are settings for this but when I press [K] it goes to [sk], and once I use my arrow keys to move it moves quite a distance, specially the Z using page up and down.

It used to be that if i slightly tapped a key, it would slightly move.

Now it seems like the slightest touch moves it at least a minimum 1/2" of an inch, and the Z maybe 1"

Are there settings to slow it down or "fine tune"?

I'd like to be able to just tap the keys and get a slight movement again.

Also, how do I adjust the Z so that once it lifts up from a cut it's a little higher up than the default.

Thanks in advance

Eric…
The Z movement was one of the complaints with 3.6.46… Three work-arounds…
1. Get used to it. You’ll find yourself planning on it.
2. Use the Jog command (Control + arrow or control + pg. up/down) it’ll move rapidly, but stop immediately when you let go!
3. Set the incremental movement button at something you can live with.

It's been a while since I've seen .46, but is there a keypad ramp rate in Values Ramps? I used to adjust that or some other keypad setting that was in there to help with that situation some.

I use 3.6.(something) and I set the keypad ramp rate in Values Ramps to make those adjustments.

Once I've already upgraded and loaded the firmware, can I go back to 3.1.1? I don't see much of an advantage to be on 3.6.46, at least for what I do.

I alomst want to say being on this newer version makes my cutting is not as smooth, especially on arcs. It seems like the older version was more fluid?

Is it just as simple as "uninstalling" the software ans reinstalling the old? Does it automatically install the firmware for that version too or am I having to do something different?

you need to reinstall your firmware...
