I'm moving stuff around the shop today, adding casters, removing kickboards, and chopping down stands to make working with the wheelchair easier. Then I saw this---Wondering what the workshop of the future will look like now. Be nice to rearrange your shop with a rumblepad--- Tell your infeed table to go get another sheet of ply? Outfeed table to take a sheet to the Shopbot?:)
Brady-It needs to be more rugged. You electronic/computer guys(You know who you are )-- Does it need a recharging station and can you make sure all fixtures recharge in the middle of the night and then return to their original position so you're ready to go when you bring your coffee into the shop in the morning? It would look the the Disney flic "the Sorcerer's Apprentice":) Oh Andrew--I think you're safe for a couple more years:)

With wireless power, your floors and wall will become chargers and will provide constant power to everything in your house.

In a past life we designed a warehouse at Zellerbach that was very state of the art for its time. It was semi robotic with automated parts pickers, hidden floor tracking etc,. Turns out because of the immense size of the warehouse (million plus sq ft) that it took FOREVER to get an order processed. It was much faster to just go pick the order.

Back to the topic, having just come from Maker Faire automating your work tables and such would be a lot of fun! There are lots of small manufacturers that are producing some amazing little goodies that could help in the process. Check out Make Magazine for some leads. Russ
