Hayward School of Dimensional Sign Making

Just came back from the four day Hayward School of Dimensional Sign Making Workshop, Hayward WI. http://www.haywardsignschool.com/. Wow it was well worth it. I am working on shifting gears with my shopBot and get into more sign work. It was totally hands on with two projects that you make and keep. Mike and Mary Bloomquist are more than just accommodating, you develop a great friendship. Mark has extensive information and knowledge on Sign Foam 3 and 4,as well as every technique and process in making 3 dimensional signs, including using his new ShopBot. I enjoyed very much learning some basics in 3d carving by hand. You have a choice between a muskie, deere, bear or loon. The painting process used after really brought out the dimension of the signs. Mike is able to answer any and all questions about sign work with many examples and explanations. He even went out of the way to show us how to gold leaf. His shop is open 24 hours so working at night is no problem.
I didn't get as far as I wanted with my second project because I wanted to get out in the afternoon to do some fishing. My son caught a 24" walleye, my daughter caught a 14" large mouth bass and plenty of pan fish.
Mike knows all the good fishing spots on the lake and had plenty of advise, but catching the walleye right off the dock was amazing for my son.
The resort is very clean and well run. Mary runs a wonderful bar and make sure you have one of her pudding shots. I had such a great time working in the shop, We stayed and extra day so could get some fishing in.
