View Full Version : Warning light for when Sbot is running?

One of my renters is a machinist with big CNCs and I notice that
when his machines run there is a red strobe on top that flashes-
seems like a good idea. I am kind of deaf-ish and getting kind of
senile at times, and my machine is in a busy shop with people
moving around and occasionally customer visiting the powder room
which is very close to my bot. Has this been done? Seems like an
obvious safety precaution? I have noticed that my non-contact
voltage tester lights/flashes when placed close to the spindle, but
I don't think the batteries would last long. Thanks Gene

I have an led light on my bot that activates when you push the spindle on button. you do have to have a power source for it. If I remember correctly I had to get a 24 v led. I don't have the issue of clients getting too close to it but its a great visual to make sure that you hit the spindle on button before the bit snaps.

Not that that has ever happened to me in my shop, in the last week or so.

I have 2 rotating lights that are activated when the spindle starts it runs off one of the 12 volt plugs in the control box

The SB3 user guide actually mentions hooking up a warning light relay to switch 4. That switch is automatically activated when the tool is in motion.

Adrian is right. you can piggyback right off of relay 4. you can also use any other open relay in your control box. Just be mindful of your voltages, for example my dust colector is set up to turn on/off automatically but because it runs off 110vac i needed a solid state relay. you can use SO x,1 to turn the relay on and SO x,0 to turn it off. X is the number of your relay. and if your really feelling spunky you can add those lines to the post processor!

Good info all. I guess I was more concerned about the spindle (which
is a Chicom 2.2- so not run from the Sb software) but the cnc motion
is also something to think about. The spindle is so quiet that I can't
always hear it. I will be thinking this all thru. Thanks Gene
