Hey Shopbotters,
I recently received a beta version of ShopBot Control version 3.8.22. Is anyone else using this version and can give some insight as to any known issues?
Thanks,
Brandan

Where did you get it from? There's nothing showing in the Beta forum or on the beta download page.

Top secret release. Been testing it the last two days. If you have a Z axis prox and use the new zzero (C2) and xyzero (C3) routines and utilize the Z prox part of them, be forewarned, there's an issue. All I'm going to say on that for now. As far as cutting, so far so good. It may be worth noting that since I do a lot of testing and swapping various versions, with this one I did a full wipe of all SB related files and registry settings before installing to hopefully rid my system of a not enough axis designation error. So far so good with that. Advise you wait until some things are fixed and it goes public.

Oh well, guess I'll wait for the public release to see if it fixes the total lockup I get every time I try to run any of the 3.8 series without the hub connected...

Hey Again Scott!
I am using the new version and firmware to quality for safety. I've been talking to ShopBot about the lack of braking mechanism once an E-Stop is triggered. I need the spindle to actively brake; my current version does not do that. Jeremy @shopbot support was telling me they fixed a timing issue in 3.8.22, which should resolve this. Any chance you could test that for me? I use the C3 command all the time and worry about losing that functionality, could you elaborate a little more? Either Post or PM is fine with me.
Thanks!

Hey Brandon,
If you don't have a Z axis prox, won't notice it.
Are you saying that you need the spindle to brake and drop in RPM quickly, or do you mean that you need xy axis motion to stop? Keep in mind that once you hit the E-stop (red button on machine), that the Z axis could begin to fall as the drivers kick out! The E-Stop does stop on the spot. Nasty thing about it though is that if you hit it during a jog move and it has gotten up to speed, it's going to be a rather jarring stop! If you mean hitting the spacebar or enter, no, it ramps to a stop then.

It's just the E-Stop vs. spindle I am concerned about; not spacebar. It's good to hear that I can get this functionality! I understand that there will be the need for a recovery after the stop if triggered, and will be careful about the Z-axis.
Thanks as always for your valued input!
