The old adage says that if you own a ShopBot… You’re in the sign business… sooner or later! I was tempted into doing this one because I don’t have to paint it!
My parameters were to make it 60” wide and look like the business card I was given… and to keep a peach crate feel!
I made it out of Western Red Cedar and preserved the “rough cut” peach crate look on all the parts. It’s a two sided sign… I learned that the second side is more than “just a little extra work”!
The B&B text is on a separate piece while the proprietor and the city haggle over what his sign can say…

Steve, Really great work with the grain! Peach looks NICE.
I can't imagine the top of "Farm" was an accident--- Individuality showing ? :)
It ain't plain vanilla--That's for sure.

Scott…
I carefully went through the stack of Cedar at Lowes (HD didn’t have anything I wanted!), I color matched and eliminated large knots… When the Stuff finally dried out, I was left with wildly varying color and dramatic shrinkage! I cut out the letters, cut pockets to fit the letters but didn’t glue them in until the next day… The letters had shrunk enough by the next day, that I had to do a lot of hand work to fit them! My customer is going to either color stain or paint to match his business card, the wood color variations will be covered!

Shame. Reminds me of some beautiful Birds-eye kitchen cabinets a guy I know did, and they were just ready for the customer to come in that day to finalize the finish. I asked later if he had finished pictures, He said "Scott---You don't want to see them". She had them pickled white! Nice work!
