I ended up with 5 extra sheets of EPS foam(2.5"). Was looking for some inspirational ideas as to what I could make with it. Was leaning towards the whimsical side of project spectrum, but happy to hear all ideas! Maybe model slicing a larger project, then gluing up and painting? maybe some 8' prismatic letters? A large multi-sided statue of some sort? Thanks, Marc

Hi Marc,
Have you ever seen the life sized chess pieces James McGrew did, some time back?
HERE (http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11722) is one thread on them, and HERE (http://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5425&hilit=king+chess) are the steps taken.
I'd love to do something along this line, one of these days!

Ron,
Yes, That was one of the ideas running through my mind when I posted actually! Will have to read up on the process, but looks like alot of fun.

Marc,
You can have a lot of fun with gluing up layers to make 3D figures...

In the future I will add alignment holes though as I left a 1/4" onion skin (OK, it's more like a watermelon skin) on each piece to keep it from bowing up and had some issues with alignment...

This was the last one I cut. Turned out good, but in the future I will hollow out the center of the material in the toolpathing.

Marc,.....is that your version of a "selfie"?:eek::D:rolleyes:
That looks great! How did you cut that? Slicing or on a indexer? It didn't look like it had sections from what i could see...good job:)

Jack!
Yes, is how I feel sometimes!
Thank you, this was model sliced in Aspire, then epoxied together. If you click on the picture to enlarge, you can see the slice lines. I think its about 2.5' tall. Machined with a .65" Ball nose/3ips(My machine is slow)/ 8% finish pass/no roughing
