There has been lots of discussions on the matter of patent laws, what one can do and what one should not do. Most do not know the law and some think they know the laws. Here is a link so that all can read. This will help most to know if they are breaking the law or not.

There is a condensed version of the law.

I recommend that everyone that is making product and using patterns downloaded from free sites and other sites to read this.

On my original post I may have sounded descending by the way I worded it. I meant no harm in my wording being military for 30 years one develops a different way of wording things.

Here is a section of the Patent law That I found that may be of interest.

35 U.S.C. 284 Damages.
Upon finding for the claimant the court shall award the claimant damages adequate to compensate for the infringement but in no event less than a reasonable royalty for the use made of the invention by the infringer, together with interest and costs as fixed by the court.
When the damages are not found by a jury, the court shall assess them. In either event the court may increase the damages up to three times the amount found or assessed. Increased damages under this paragraph shall not apply to provisional rights under section 154(d).
The court may receive expert testimony as an aid to the determination of damages or of what royalty would be reasonable under the circumstances.
(Amended Nov. 29, 1999, Public Law 106

Getting caught breaking the patent laws can get very expensive. This is why I always stress if it is not your design and you do not have written permission do not post it for sale or sale that product or pattern.
one needs to be very careful on patent rights and copyright infringements.

Maybe this site is already known here but I ran across OpenClipart.org today, a site with expressly licenses the supplied artwork for unlimited use including commercial use. Example: a search for "sports silhouette" (http://openclipart.org/search/?query=sports+silhouette).

I thought this may come handy sometimes.
