SB Friends,
Naturally, when I have a deadline and lot to cut something goes wrong. I fired up my PRS Alpha yesterday and the software could not locate the tool. It does show up in the ports and USB section of Device Manager. Talking through with tech support I switched USB ports, checked the comm channel, checked the voltage, tried a fresh install of the SB software on a different computer, tripped the breakers and left the off for a bit and restarted both PC and CNC, checked the voltage, and I checked the wires inside the control box. Still no joy. SB Tech thinks I need a new control card. That's now 2 days away, at a minimum, to get a replacement.

Can you think of anything I haven't tried? She ran perfectly just a week ago.

Thanks,
John

It's a long shot, but turn on the control box, reset the drivers (if Alpha) and then cycle the e-stop. Both of them if you have 2. Press it all the way in and twist it back out. Then do a reset and see if you can connect.

I would also re-seat all USB connections from the control card out to the PC. Pull them apart and put them back together again.

SB tech support is pretty good, and it's good to know you have another card on the way.

I had the same thing happen to me after I reinstalled my boards, can't remember what all it took to get going but I know I had to update my drivers.
Scott helped me and maybe know a little more.

Thanks for the input Brady and Kyle. Turns out the USB coming from the control box had gone bad. Totally skipped checking that. I am up and running now. Many thanks to Jeremy for patiently eliminating the possibilities with me.
