Hey everyone. I have a PRS standard with a upgraded controls to the RBK system. Everything has been working fine tl few days ago. I seem to get a issue that when the machines is running a toolpath it will all of a sudden change the speed that is is cutting at. I usually cut at around 3ips. The monitor still reads the correct speed just the machine s moving much slower. I had it today where it changed speeds and also seem to have lost position as it started cutting around 2" to the left in the x axis. I always drill a test hole at my home position so when I stopped the toolpath and did jog home it had not lost it home position. Just screwed up the cut position. I have checked all my grounds and things seem good there. It is spiratic and never seems to be the same spot or ? situation as well. Ideas??

Hi Glen,

What version of the control software are you running? I experienced this issue a few tomes in the past, but a newer version solved it.

From the update notes for version 3.8.12:
- Updated math precision to prevent rounding error causing shift to slow speed in some long files

Newest version is 3.8.14.

Hope this helps.

Hey Ron. I am running 3.8.10. I got a pm from another botter with the same info but that person told me to go back to the 3.6. versions of the software due to the issues with the newer 3.8
I am running a textured background file and also noticed that when it does this the file keeps running until I hit the spacebar but gantry is not moving and still. Once I click resume from the pop up window it goes back to cutting properly. It does relocate itself so machine position matches the file which is a good thing. I will have to go back into my file and do up some small toolpaths to fix the patches of no textured background that is has left all over my sign. I will give your suggestion a try before going back to the 3.6 version and update.

Cheers

You can go back to 3.6.46 or forward to 3.8.14. 3.8.10 is kind of a beat version with known issues.

Sounds just like the symptoms I had, and sometimes it would speed back by itself - usually at the end of a cut. Mine didn't loose location, either.

Out of curiosity, if you go back to 3.6 from 3.8, besides making sure you do your firmware thing is there anything you need to do besides a typical software uninstall?

Dave

There is one shopbot settings file that has to be found and manually deleted after the software is uninstalled. Then you reload the software and run through the set up and all should be kosher (If a bad copy of SB3 and or variables file settings are the culprit)
