Hello Botters. Need a little advice. Been experiencing a problem with my z axis on my PRT96. Movement is rough and it is losing steps. Getting a high pitched squeel out of the z motor when I move or jog it as well. Did a little troubleshooting and switched my z axis cable with y axis and did some test moves. On the Y axis cable it moves like butter (perfect). Put the z axis cable on y axis motor and its rough. Assumed I had a worn cable. Ordered the proper wire and updated all the cables at once ( why not ..16yrs..it was due). Well...same problem. X axis very rough movement..same squeel. Tested with y axis cable...butter again.
I'm suspect I have a driver going bad. Anybody concur or am I missing something?
Also...are the wires in the wago connectors switched on the x1 and x2 motors?
I didn't pay close attn when I put the connectors back on but now my x motors seem to be turning in the same directions twisting the carriage. I suspect that the wires are supposed to be inverted on one of the motors in order for them the get the opposite signal.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

The short answer is yes to both. (Probable bad driver and reverse cable.)

Just updating for anyone who may run into this again.
My problem was a bad driver. Ordered a new Gecko driver from Shopbot and installed today. The old girl sings beautifully. For those interested ...the install was easy because it was my Z driver. If it was x1 or x2 it would take more time because you would have to remove drivers in succession from the bottom starting with the Z driver to get to the terminal screws of each driver. Still...it would be pretty easy. As for the cables ...the Black and Green wire needs to be reversed in the wago connector on the control box side.
Next update will be to replace all the bearings as they are showing their age...much like myself. Happy Botting!

Quick clarification...The black and green wire needs to be reversed in the wago connector ONLY ON X2 motor on the control box end.
Sorry

What was the cost?

I think the driver was a little over $100. I ordered some other stuff with it.
