These are "available" exclusively at home depot.
Checked their website
http://www.homedepot.com/s/ryobi%2520phone?NCNI-5 and it seemed they have them, even listed how many they had in stock. Went to one store and they were no where to be seen. Went to another and they didn't have them either ... Asked some employees who have never heard of them, I told them they were listed in stock on the internet.
They looked it up and sure enough they were there, but no one could find them or find out anything about them.
So I ordered some online last night, today a refund was sent along with a "sorry for the inconvenience" note ... so apparently these are not quite ready for prime time.

The reviews for the App say it is just an advertisement to go buy the accessories. I guess we have to wait until Ryobi actually releases it...:(

I wont be beating down their door for it based on other Ryobi tool purchases over the years.

I dunno, I've done alright with Ryobi gadgets, I love their Tek4 line. Wouldn't buy a Ryobi chain saw or something like that, they have nice little gizmos though.

Anyhow they put some on the floor today and I got the infrared temp device and the cheap little laser.
Laser is only $14 but pretty much worthless, so you have a laser beam coming from your phone, now what ? It is supposed to be a level of sorts, I don't see the point. Has a SOS flash function, great if I ever get lost on a mountain, not so much so if I don't.

Temp device is way cool, was a hassle to activate [you have to set up an account then register the device to activate it. Hassle was finding the device number, which was located after you snap off the battery cover].
Works great, high cool factor. The bracket adjusts for various phone sizes, glad I didn't have to take my iphone 6 case off to use it. This makes my 4th temp device so I think I'll ebay one of them.
Not really anything else in that line that interests me, laser level seems cool but you'd have to have a tripod to get optimum results ,, I already have 2 nice laser levels.
Moisture meter, maybe.
Inspection scope, maybe but I'll for sure wait for a price drop, a bit steep for a non stand alone device.
Studfinder no, already have 2. Earphones no, already have some plus I hate ear buds.
Hopefully they'll add more to the line. I see they have a distance measurer [yep, already have one] but might consider another if the price is right [under $40].

Well Doug...it sounds to me like you suffer from that well known malady that many woodworkers find themselves faced with and that is....
"icanneverhavetoomanytools-itis":eek:

I know i have a debilitating case of it and it has spread and and joined to produce another strain that has mutated into...

Well I'm a union carpenter by trade [industrial] and also do alot of construction side jobs [garages, porches, decks, pole barns ect] as well as my personal workshop, so for sure, cannot ever have enough tools. I am a gadget fiend as well, so all that combined makes me a tool nympho, in common with most here.
The more options and tools you have the better ,, I look at it like, I may blow alot of $$ on tools, but at least when its done I have something to show for it - And the potential for a nice return on the investment.
I think this line will be a hot seller, and look for others [Dewalt foremost] to copy the concepts soon. Makes great sense, but as I implied, since all of these tools are widely available in stand alone form, they really got to watch their price point. The phone itself it doing alot of the work, for that reason the actual device should not be nearly expensive as a stand alone model.

so all that combined makes me a tool nympho,
Well at least i didn't call you a toolwhore!:D

I'm like you when it comes to spending money on tools.....my kids and grandkids are grown so i have no one i need to support so i don't think twice about spending money on tools.:)
Plus if i can't do it with a power tool, i don't need to do it. I use as few hand tools as possible:)

I would have called myself a tool whore, didn't think it would pass the censors !

The measurer is $80 the inspection scope almost $100, will be interesting to see how they sell at this price point, which I think is way too much. Since they have no competition at the moment they may sell well with the gadget fiends during the holiday season, after that I'm hoping they will drop.
