It's after hours and i can't get a hold of anyone at shopbot.

My Machine goes down to z zero plate, stops for about three seconds, jerks back up, then gives me a motor fault. I can't figure it out.
Please help, i need to get this running ASAP. Thank you.

I don't know if it will help. Try to cut the power off at the breaker panel, and back on It will reset the controllers memory

Check for continuity of the z zero plate circuit. Make sure that the wiring is okay and that when you tap the plate to ground, the #1 input lights up.

If you have a router, you may need to use the ground clip on the collet.

If you have a coated tool, you may not be able to make the connection and will have to manually zero the tool on the surface.

If you are making contact and the tool is just raising up after making contact and zeroing (as normal), you may be topping out on the upper mechanical stops (this will also cause a motor fault) and need to lessen your safe height.

simple work around...manual lower z to surface and zero out, run file

as I do on current machine...

later fix z zero issue SB machine

I think it is a real shame that this forum is quickly becoming some kind of FaceBook-esque collection of nonsense posts where everyone comments on everything, quite often not adding any valuable information to the post, and even more frequently posting things that aren't correct. If you love this forum, respect the group (and yourself) enough to know when to be giving advice & when to be receiving it. Please."

When my alph did that. I flip the Breaker in the panel on my house to cut off power, then back on. And it reset it. It's worth a try

( when you turn off the shopbot on the machine the controllers will always have power on them so they keep the memory
It's 110v when you cut off power to them the reset )

Thank you all so much, This was the problem the wire on my machine was frayed close to the connection pins. I'll have to manually do it for a while.
