I am planning to cut a bowl from a blank that it partly spalted maple. I remember from my wood turning days there were dire warnings about wearing a respirator because the spalting fungus spores will get airborne and are quite toxic.

Now since I will use the CNC and have a somewhat decent dust collector with cyclone and filter should I consider this good enough or should I still take some precaution? Or is that anyway more urban legend?

Thanks, GB
