I have a 2HP single stage Harbor Freight dust collector and would like to convert the cloth bag on top to a hard canister type filter. Does anyone have any input regarding how, best price, durability, microns needed, etc.
Thanks

I recently upgraded my Jet collector with a 1 micron canister with integral cleaning brush.
It came with a rubber gasket that fitted tightly where the bag went and there was a metal strap that went over that to fit it even tighter.
It's made a huge difference. The space where the extractor is kept is completely clear of dust now whereas before there was a layer of fine dust on every surface.
I did look at a variety of 3rd party cannisters that were a lot cheaper but because I'm running a business it was much more cost efficient to just get something that I knew would work straight away.

Wynn Environmental! Call them. Dick Wynn will hook you up. Great man and great products. Really cares what he does. Have him send you the video links to the 2 stage upgrade. Also look into the Super Dust Deputy. Just a very satisfied customer!

I also added the Super Dust Deputy. It made a big difference in air flow.

I went the Wynn way also - You won't believe the volume of air your collector can actually pull. If you can swing the additional funds, I highly recommend an aftermarket cyclone - well worth the investment.
NOTE: be certain to remove and clean it regularly, especially if running without a cyclone - those pleats can hold a great many pounds of wood flour. (don't ask me how I know :o)
