I'm having communications errors with my ShopBot Desktop and am considering reinstalling all of the software including Windows 7. I have Windows 7 Home Edition SP1. Can anyone share what they have changed specifically to a standard installation of Windows 7 to make it communicate well with a ShopBot via USB?
My current installation was tweaked using the Black Viper bare bones settings. It may be the source of the problem, but I can't be sure because I made those changes about the same time as I upgraded to the latest version of the SB3 software. I made the changes because of communications problems after several hours of cutting acrylic with a diamond drag bit. Spindle was off as well as the dust collector. The last time I tried my ShopBot it only cut for about 8 minutes then paused and went into a very slow, maybe half speed cutting mode, for a couple of minutes and then stopped completely with an Unexpected Return Fault error.
My PC is dedicated to the ShopBot and isn't hooked up to the network so that I don't have to run any anti-virus software. I transfer design files from another computer (iMac running Boot Camp and Windows 7 Home Edition) using a USB stick.
Thanks,
Steve
