I finally got my bot MOVED to my new shop.

Disconnected the subpanel from main power and left everything connecting, laying the panel on the bot and rolling up the wires.
Turned and blocked up the gantry then strapped it securely to the table.
Drilled 3 holes in each leg and installed 4 trailer jacks with wheels on each.
Added a ratchet strap underneath connecting the legs cross bars at each end of the table then added a little tension.
Added a tow cable to one end down low on the cross member for the legs.
Positioned the bot at the end of the trailer ramp.
Connected a come-a-long to the tow cable and started pulling.
The strap under the table transferred any "spreading" load through to the far legs rather than transferring it through the table.

Worked like a champ, had it on the trailer in casual fashion in less than 10 minutes. Unloading was the reverse, sent it down the ramp and kept hold of it with the come-a-long letting it out a little at the time.

It's now sitting in the new shop ready to clean up and hook up!

:D

Thanks for sharing your cleverness, Ron. Will save this thread for the day I need to move!
Sounded crazy at first, considering expense of the 4 jack assemblies, but they obviously saved an incalculable amount of dismantling and re-assembly time.
Hope the move puts you in a position for greater success in the new year!

Actually, the jacks were on sale for 19.99 each at Northern Tool (reg 29.99). I couldn't pass that up. At first they seemed a little flimsy, I wouldn't try to tow it down the highway on them, but they worked PERFECT for what I needed and have proven to be sturdy enough to do the job.

Here are some pictures of it and one of me arguing with my dog Benny over who gets to sit where.

Nice Job. That does sure beat a tear down and reassembly.

We finally reached a truce, he let me sit in my chair and he sat on me.

What's real fun is taking a nap and hear something bounding toward you and open you eyes just in time to see a 60 lb Husky flying through the air at you, mouth open, tongue flapping, paws spread!

You got that right! It was much easier than anticipated. The only real problems was the loading gate. I should have bolted a piece of plywood to it to make a better ramp, but it worked out.

I will say, if you want to clean the sawdust out of all the nooks and crannies of your bot, take it for a ride on an open trailer. Cleaned it right up!

Yep, about a year and a half years ago I moved mine (for the 4th time....)

I did it very similar to how you moved yours and I laid some cheep plywood down over the gate. Every other time I moved it I took it apart and reassembled it because of going through doorways. I told myself from now on, no more going through doorways with it.....

when I moved mine I lifted it up with a jack and put small 4 wheel carts under each foot and rolled it up

I remember getting a 48x48 inside a Jeep Grand Cherokee. (except for the bed material)

When I arrived to pick it up the fellow did not think I could make it work.

Priceless, by chance did you take a pic of that? I am sure you got a great deal on your machine.

I have to say, the SB does travel and age very well

I just used the same method on my PRT for a move. I did cheat on the trailer portion and used my brother's flat bed tow truck for the move. A motorized winch beats a small come-along any day.

I'm planning on leaving the jacks on to allow me to reposition the machine in the shop for cleaning or access.

Congrats on the new shop. Are you moving the new vac system too? I think it was called the hurricane. How is that working for you?

Yep, everything is moving. The Hurricane vac has been working perfectly. Most of the time I run with one stage but when it's needed the second stage is fantastic and has saved me a lot of grief.

I'm sure I'll be posting videos of the new shop as I continue to get things done.

Thanks Robert/Harry. I am considering The Hurricane for my new shop. Thanks for showing your purchase a while back.
