View Full Version : Bot Took a Wrong Turn during Circle
Today is the 3rd time it has happened.
Cutting a circle, and the bot took a straight line out, and the bit breaks.
The bot went all the way past Y 48" until it hit the limit switch.
The circle it was in the middle of stops at Y30"
PRS Standard 4x8 2012 edition.
Any suggestions?

the same way I always cut.
3/4" double sided HPL plywood.
5.9" a second
1800 rpm
.33 first pass (which is when it went off course)

We Really need to be able to post files:(
It would really help a lot of times.

Drop your MS to 3 or 4 IPS and see if it happens again. You are running a Standard which doesn't have the same amount of torque as an Alpha at that speed...
Also, COM speed becomes important at higher speeds, especially on circles.
Pull the speed back and see if it helps.

On what size of bit? And what type?
I may be overly cautious, but I don't even run THAT fast when I am cutting foam and that is with an Alpha w a 4HP spindle!
Seems too much- and if it is a .25 bit, I would PROBABLY limit my passes to the diameter of the bit- ( But then again, I DID imply, above, that I was conservative )

I take it you meant 18,000 RPM and not 1800. Before Alpha upgrade I cut that plywood at 3.5ips and spun 14,500 +/- and used 3 passes. Parts are ready for edgebanding. No way can a standard cut 3/4ply at 6ips.
