I'm posting this introduction to Richard Pronneke and his life long adventure in the Wilderness. This is the story of a 51year old fellow that's dropped off in remote Alaska. Armed with an axe, chisels and saw he builds one of the most beautiful cabins I've seen. This is a Craftsman's story for sure.

Both of his CD's are in my library and when I need a little pep-up that's the place to go.

The link I sent from Youtube is abridged. The full length is about an hour each. Time well spent.

That is inspiring to say the least. I grew up in Kodiak, AK so can fully appreciate his efforts and the beauty of the area.

As a Boy Scout in Kodiak, we spent many weekends going into wilderness areas (4 seasons a year) with very little, learning to build our own all-season shelters, hunt and gather our own food and build cooking/warming fires regardless of the weather conditions. All with only hand tools. It was an INCREDIBLE learning experience for me. I will cherish my time in the Scouts for as long as I live. What was really cool was that when I went to survival schools (winter, desert, mountain, ocean) in the military, a lot of what I learned in the Scouts applied.

The video you posted reminds me so much of all of those times in my life.
