Z axis keeps cutting deep

4 times I have rezeroed, checked the bit, checked the file, surfaced the material and it's like its cutting .01-.02 deeper and blending edges together

My only theory is that I'm surfacing the MDF and applying a fast drying wipe on stain that literally takes 30min
Possible swelling? It's doesn't even saturate the wood hardly, and I never had the issue before till installing aspire 8

Hasn't been an issue prior, I'm doing it to bring out all the details of the uncut areas, what other methods are there for painting just the surface after you make extreme detailed cuts with fine lettering?
