Ok i need some guidance from you pro's
Now I understand my way around when I set my job up to a certain size, but I am sufacing some oak slabs and I found out after I flattened them that they have some splits on them. Now my plans are to inlay a walnut bowtie across the split. NOW my question is How do I place the female cut on my slab since it is NOT round, or any other shape that can be traced or placed on my job setup? I can make the male parts but I need the female to be in specific spots all over the slab. I hope this is simple to do But as of now I cant figure out how to do this. The slab has splits all around the outer edge and I need to be able to rotate the female cut in order to be across the split.
Hope I was able to make SOMEONE understand what I am talking about.
Thanks so much

Perry…
The easiest way to place a bowtie when it’s hard to pinpoint its location is to make the center of the job to be the 0,0 Datum point. Visually locate the router in the middle of the spot where you want the bowtie to be and zero X & Y at that location. You can relocate at will, re-zero and cut again.
You can rotate the part if you have enough room or rotate the pocket and re-toolpath.
If this isn’t clear say so and I’ll do some screen captures!

MUCH easier than I was doing, trying to measure everything OUT so I could preview:)
Not hard to do for me with Desktop and little pieces, But for Perry... would be a PITA.
Thanks Steve.
