The rise of the machines has begun!

"...it grabbed the man and thrust him against a metal slab..."

Beware and respect your bot, it may be your future overlord!

OK, on a more serious note, this is a reminder that machines do what they are told and are unforgiving. These assembly bots are of the same basic principle of our shopbots albeit with more mobility and sensors. But the rule is the same, stay clear. At some point it WILL move in an unexpected manner (even if only unexpected by you) so be careful!

Funny, I heard mine say "You'll be back" as I walked away and cursed it (ok, really cursing myself) after breaking a $75 bit.

Wasn't there a guy sometime back where his Bot tried to suck him in (http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/showthread.php?8282-How-to-vacuum-clamp-yourself-to-your-bot)? ;)

Funny Scott!
I WAS going to mention that..and that ALL tools are dangerous when you get careless(as I suck a sanded knuckle from the belt sander- wood missed hitting my VFD by at LEAST 6").....
But figured "Naah...I'll be polite for a change and not mention that" :) :)
That thread does stick in your brain Harry:)

Hey, no pictures, it didn't happen! :o

I'll never live that down, why I was walking down a nature trail after solo free climbing El Capitan in Yosemite where I had to fight off a bear with my pocket knife in one hand and a mountain lion with a stick in the other hand and some guy yelled "Hey, aren't you the guy that got stuck to his own ShopBot?"

It's not necessarily the thread that sticks in your mind as much as the visual it creates!

My robot fights back.

I made a robotic gripper with joints like a human finger. It also used tendon strings and dc motors.

I wanted to test it but didn't have a fixture to hold it. I held it in my hand and touched the wires to a dc power supply. It promptly gripped my right index finger so hard that I couldn't get it off. I soon realized that I couldn't disassemble it with my left hand.

After fumbling around awhile I was able to reverse the wires and the finger slowly straightened out like ... well ... it gave me the middle finger.

Grippers still disturb me.
