How many of you bass fish. I have found another way to use your shop bot. Make your own fishing lures. This one works so good. I have decided to start making it and put it out for sale. Simple things like fishing lures can be made on any shop bot. contact me if you want to know how to coat and paint.

That looks really neat but can they be made cheaply enough to compete with what's out there? Excellent job!

I don't know if you can compete with Bass lures, however I have a friend who wants me to cut out some muskie baits for him. This is a 10" one, there is also a 12" size. The 12" retails for $89.95. I have to think there is money to be made at that price. And Eugene, I'd love to know how to paint one up!

How I painted the one I made. First I glued on tin foil and before it dried. I took the adjusting nut out of a old adjustable wrench (mine had a diamond or criss cross cut on it )and made the diamond marks. then with a air brush I sprayed on the black stripe and the orngane stripe. The eyes are made from sign vinly I used two differeent sizes of whole punch the red was a 1/4 inch punch and the black was a 3/16 one. Then to do the final coat I used a two part epoxy resin. (everfix by evercoat) This I brushed on. Not only did it protect and give it a gloss coat, it made the balsa wood stronger. The hook holder came about due to me losing a big fish years ago, the eye screw came out, so now I use 14 gauge copper wire.. set into epoxy. I use some lead to keep the lure upright.

This is a great idea. I use "stretch 30+" and I pay $10 and up each. I could see making a production run of 50 or so plugs if I could find the right deal on mustad treble hooks. Might be worth looking at before hog season opens.

here is the two places I order my bulk parts from. http://lurepartsonline.com/ and http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/ You can order the actual wood bodies, however I can make them my self. if one likes he can order one each and do a drawing and make them from that.
A few years ago I cut 1000 blanks for a guy making spearing decoys for ice fishing. Never heard from him after that. I think he may not have had a good grip on how much work it was going to be to finish them.

why not make the lures in an exxxtra large size to be used in a man cave or to attract people to your booth.
