Another step forward!

Well I tried pocket letters for the first time and I must say I love the ease of finishing. Thank you Joe C. for all the inspiration and Brady for getting me this far. This will be getting an LED scrolling sign under it and the planter will be rebuilt in the near future. In retrospect I would have changes a few things including the screw placements while installing, but it's all a learning experience. All critic appreciated. 100% PVC

It's a Route Brady. 1/4" ballnose 3.5 hours at 4ips.

I'm with Bob about the woodgrain. Sometimes larger grain looks best when the sign is to been seen from a distance. One little hint:
A custom look can be had by adding a border shade. It's easy to do with a transparent color. These can be made by tinting a clean coat. Several passes will guarantee you don't go too far.http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=25956&stc=1

One of the often used techniques of the, old time, sign painters is to flourish their work with shades, outlines and exterior fades around the borders. With the advent of the vinyl plotter and CNC those techniques aren't used very much. So we often end up with cut and paste effect. Much like a grade school look. The primary reason is lack of brush skills and airbrush knowledge. It's interesting to look at signs produced by vinyl cutters. They almost always look "Cut and Paste." Fortunately with the advent of Photoshop and Corel they can vary the background colors. Take a look at the signs posted by amateur sign artists to see what I mean.
