I have a 24x32 sized ShopBot Buddy. I made a couple of 19" x 30" signs for an apartment complex and now I have been asked to make 4 identical, 32" x 100" signs (maybe 3/8" thick to over lay a sheet metal clad monument sign (the old sign). I don't have a PowerStick but thought of a way using my ArtCAM Insignia software's Panel Toolpaths function to be maybe be able still to pull it off.

I have a question about materials to use. I'm in Kansas City and the only supplier I'm aware of is Regal Plastics. For the previous job, I purchased 1" thick expanded PVC from Regal to match the other smaller signs. I have a call in to their sales folks and I'm not sure from looking at their website http://www.regal-plastics.com/ about all of the various materials from their proprietary names, if they are reasonable material for cutting into with my CNC, if they hold a paint, are exterior grade, are not too heavy nor expensive. Any insight would be much appreciated, thank you.

Ps - I would be interested in a PowerStick if someone had one for sale!

Bret,

Congratulations on the commission.

You have lots of options for a substrate material. I'm dedicated to PVC but you'll need a good substrate to keep it from warping. Another good option is MDO. It's close to warp free and not all that expensive. A 4'X8' sheet is about $85. HDU is way too expensive and easily damaged.

Some of my PVC comes from Regal but there's another vendor you might consider, Reece Sign Supply. They service Kansas. Check with N. Glantz Sign supply.
